Saga of the Cajuns

The Landry Collection

In 1993, Gerald Deffez and Betty Landry Deffez, owners of the Landry Collection and Saga of the Cajuns, commissioned Chestee to create pieces for their 100 points in time, 1604 onward series. This series tells the story of the Acadian people and their journey from France (by way of Nova Scotia) to the bayou country of Louisiana.

Chestee completed four original works for the series: Tin Roof over Paradise, Stay with Gran-père, Could This be Our Land? and Friday Night Bourré. The Landry Collection produced limited edition prints from each original work in the collection. Today the originals are held in private collections from Nashville, Tennessee to Del Mar, California.
