Chestee Harrington

From where the fireflies dance to the bullfrogs' song.

The art of Chestee Harrington begins in her native Louisiana, where the fireflies dance to the bullfrogs' song. She grew up in New Iberia, along the Bayou Teche, and often visited relatives who lived nearby on the coastal prairie. The elements of nature — oak trees and Spanish moss, winding brown bayous and the waters of the Atchafalaya Basin, moonlight paths, and yes, even fireflies — have all found their way into her work.

She works in multiple media, including her signature wood polychromatic bas-relief, as well as oil painting, sculpture, and printmaking.
